Fatal Crash on US20 Involving Failed Semi-Passing Attempt

CANYON COUNTY, Idaho – Idaho State Police (ISP) is investigating a two-vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality on Saturday, January 4, 2025. The crash occurred at approximately 7:53 a.m. on westbound US20 at milepost 14, just west of Notus.

Details of the Incident

A 22-year-old male from Parma, Idaho, was driving a blue 2005 Toyota Tundra westbound on US20. The driver attempted to pass a semi-truck in the westbound lane, colliding head-on with a red 2004 Toyota Prius traveling eastbound. The Prius was driven by a 33-year-old male, also from Parma.

One Fatality and One Injured

The driver of the Prius was wearing a seat belt but succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The Tundra's driver, also wearing a seat belt, was airlifted to a local hospital with injuries.

Response and Ongoing Investigation

The Idaho State Police was assisted by the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office and Air St. Luke’s in responding to the crash.

This incident remains under investigation by ISP.

Idaho State Police (ISP) are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that occurred at Beeches Corner near Iona on Saturday, January 4, 2025, around 5:08 p.m.

Details of the Crash

The incident began when a blue 2007 Honda Civic, driven by a 22-year-old woman from Rigby, turned south onto Ammon Road from westbound US26. The Civic collided with a silver 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan, driven by a 43-year-old man from Walla Walla, Washington, who was traveling eastbound on US26. The impact caused the Dodge to collide with a blue 2024 Tesla Model Y, which then struck a white 2013 Toyota Tundra in the northbound lanes of Ammon Road.

The Tesla was driven by a 44-year-old man from Ammon and had three adult passengers. The Tundra was driven by a 32-year-old woman from Idaho Falls.

Injuries and Seatbelt Use

The driver of the Honda Civic was transported to Idaho Falls Community Hospital (IFCH), while the Tesla passengers were taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC). All injuries were reported as non-critical. The driver of the Dodge Caravan, who was not wearing a seatbelt, escaped without critical injuries. All other drivers and passengers were wearing seatbelts.

Ongoing Investigation

The Idaho State Police, with assistance from the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office, Bonneville Fire, and Idaho Falls Fire, continue to investigate the crash. Further details may be released as the investigation progresses.
