Facebook Testing Hiding ‘Likes’ on Posts

"Only 17 likes?! I'm deleting that post. I must've posted it at the wrong time or no one thought it was funny/the picture was good/the caption wasn't clever enough, etc etc." These are the real things I've heard people and even my friends say when deleting a post on either IG or FB when their post didn't garner enough 'likes'.

Here's some news Facebook users may definitely dis-"Like": The company is testing whether to get rid of the "Like" button on people's posts.

Variety reports that testing gets underway starting Friday on posts from Australia. “We are running a limited test where 'Like,' reaction, and video view counts are made private across Facebook,” a company rep says. “We will gather feedback to understand whether this change will improve people’s experiences."

While the person or company who authored a post will still be able to see how many "Likes" it's received, your friends and other users on the platform won't be able to see them.

The blog TechCrunch adds, "Facebook’s goal here is to make people comfortable expressing themselves. It wants users to focus on the quality of what they share and how it connects them with people they care about, not just the number of people who hit the thumbs-up."

I won't be mad if likes go away. I think it will actually help a lot of people. The only thing I'll be upset about- not being able to check your baes 'likes' and seeing if that one girl you've been keeping tabs on has liked his post or not.
