Chase Rice is going back to college -- er, sort of. The singer has announced a series of concerts at U.S. colleges, set for this spring.

Rice's Back to College Tour is scheduled to begin on April 14 in Fort Myers, Fla. Seven shows have been announced so far, including one at the country artist's alma mater, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Rice's Back to College trek is currently scheduled to run through early May, with more dates to be announced. A complete list of currently announced concerts is below.

Rice is no stranger to playing college campuses: The singer, a former linebacker on the UNC Chapel Hill football team, first picked up the guitar in college and earned his stripes playing in college town dive bars. He released his major-label debut album, Ignite the Night, in 2014, and is now readying its follow-up project.

"We wanted to take our time with this new album, and I want to put the good, the bad and all the grit in between into these songs,” Rice says in a press release. “The fans in a lot of these cities have been there for me since day one, so I’m looking forward to playing them some new music live and bringing them along on the next step of our journey.”

Rice released a new single, "Whisper," in early February.
