Cars Likely to Be Damaged in the Gem State
Driving in Idaho is not ideal. There are many bad drivers on the road, most drivers are going well below the speed limit, or the other extreme and are well over it. Some drivers are driving after having a few drinks, there are those on their phones, and others aren't paying attention for several reasons. The road is a dangerous place in Idaho, but it isn't only the drivers that make it unsafe, the roads themselves do as well. Soon many drivers could see their cars being damaged in the Gem State if something isn't done to solve the problem.
Potholes In Idaho
The roads in Idaho often need to be repaired, especially this time of year as the weather begins to warm up. Winter takes a toll on the streets in the Gem State, and despite this winter being milder than most, the cold, snow, ice, and rain still take a toll and damages the roads. The most common way they do so is by creating potholes, some little ones, and others are massive holes that can do damage to your vehicle. Some potholes are easy to spot, and drivers will do their best to slow down before going through them or look to swerve and avoid them if traffic allows them to do so. Others are smaller and do less damage. The worst is when it is raining and the holes fill up with water and may look like only a small puddle, but are instead a pothole waiting for you to drive through and mess up your tires.
Driving Through Potholes in Idaho
If you are new to Idaho and not familiar with driving through potholes, especially if you come from a state with better winter conditions, there are a few tips to be aware of, so you don't end up with a big bill when it comes to repairing your vehicle. As mentioned above, when you see a puddle in the road, prepare for it to be a giant pothole. It is better to be wrong than to find out the hard way it was a big pothole. Make sure to pay attention to the drivers around you. If others are swerving, they may know something you don't, and it is best to follow their lead. If a pothole isn't avoidable due to traffic, make sure to go through it straight and not to swerve through it. After driving through a pothole, if you feel shaking in your vehicle, you may need to get your alignment checked out.
