Summer may still be a bit away but before you know it the warm weather will arrive in Idaho and it will soon be time to lay out, hit the pool, or go kayaking. Being outdoors and on the river, on a lake, or by a pool is a common way to spend time during the summer, and it is also one of the best months of the year. Odds are high that your body has changed a little in the last year or perhaps your swimsuit is out of style and you will need a new one. Before you pick any swimsuit this summer, there are some important things to know, because your decision could be life-altering.

Buying a swimsuit should be simple. You find one with a pattern or color you like, the style you prefer, and if it fits you get it. In Idaho, it isn't that simple though as the suit you pick should take some thought and some research because picking the wrong suit could cost you your life this summer in the Gem State. The color of your swimsuit matters more than ever in Idaho as the water of rivers and lakes is not the same as a clear pool. Picking a color that blends in with the water can make it tough to see the swimmer, and if something were to go wrong and those around can't spot you, then it could mean drowning, compared to someone spotting your suit could help save your life.

What Colors to Buy and Not Buy For a Swimsuit in Idaho

Looking at the chart above, you can see the difference in how suits are visible depending on which type of water you are in. If you commonly swim in a pool, you are good to use any color suit you prefer, although white is rarely a good idea. It can be hard to see in any type of water and when wet can be transparent, causing embarrassing moments. When going to the lake or river, it is wise to buy bright colors like yellow, pink, red, or orange. While not everyone enjoys bright colors, it is wise to wear one to make sure you can be spotted underwater and in need of help.

As summer approaches and swimsuit shopping is taking place, refer back to the chart above to make sure you have the proper colors for each situation this summer. It is better to be safe and prepared than to look cool and face a possible situation where you can't be spotted when in need of help.
