It is tough to find happiness in this world, especially in today's society. There is always something or someone to ruin your happiness. It can be politics, sports, family members, friends, coworkers, your job, or the one that gets many of us, driving. No matter how hard you try or how many times you move, finding a way to be happy all the time is tough. The stars have to align perfectly for someone to be satisfied every minute of every day. The best we can do is find a place that makes us happy most days, and when it comes to living in Idaho, for many that is where they are happy. Some states seem to be happier than others, while some seem more miserable and dreading life. WalletHub recently released a list ranking the happiest states in the country and used a few categories to do so, such as emotional and physical well-being, work environment, and community and environment. Using these criteria, it was determined that Hawaii is the happiest state in the country. This should be no surprise as they have a laid-back culture, beautiful beaches, and perfect weather. The second happiest state is Maryland, with New Jersey surprisingly coming in at number three. The least happy state in the entire country is Louisiana, with Arkansas being the second most miserable, and West Virginia rounding out the bottom three.

It would be easy to assume that people in Idaho are unhappy. The winters are long, the summers are hot, the wind is unpredictable, and driving is a new adventure every time you get into the vehicle. Surprisingly though, Idaho ranks as one of the happiest states in the country coming in at number eight on the list. Idaho is 30 in emotional and physical well-being but is number three in the work environment and number two in community and environment. Idaho also ranks number one in income growth, and making more money typically makes people happier. Despite what anyone thinks, Idaho brings joy to most of its residents.
