Ammon Bundy Goes it Alone in Quest to be Idaho Governor
Ammon Bundy has a set of large brass stones! He’s withdrawing from the Republican primary for Governor of Idaho. Instead, Bundy will run as an independent in the General Election. Bundy denies there was any deal made with Lt. Governor Janice McGeachin. She’s also a candidate for the GOP nomination for Governor.
Bundy Issued a Blunt Statement
In a statement issued this morning, Bundy explained he still adheres to the Republican Party platform but is often disgusted by the actions of Idaho’s leading Republicans. The following is from a statement put forth by his campaign.
In the last few years the Idaho Republican Party members have witnessed the arrest of their Party Chairman Jonathan Parker for wearing a wig and masturbating in public, Senator Mike Crapo arrested for DUI, up and coming party star Representative Greg Cheney arrested for physically abusing his wife and threatening to kill himself with a knife in front of his young children, former Governor Butch Otter arrested for driving drunk, Senator Fred Martin investigated for going into high school girl's bathrooms - twice, Ada County Sheriff Steve Bartlett resigned for allegedly trading promotion to his deputies for sexual favors and Senator Larry Craig arrested for soliciting gay sex in an airport bathroom. Just to mention a few, all Idaho Republican leaders.
I’ve said before, I really like Ammon Bundy. He’s honest. He’s well informed. He surely doesn’t lack courage. He’s not only one of the most fascinating people in Idaho politics, the same can be said for the entirety of American politics.
Bundy Can Get Around the Party Bosses
The change also allows Bundy to work around any restrictions within the party. Should he prevail in the primary, many establishment Republicans would be endorsing the socialist mayor of Sandpoint. Shelby Rognstad is the most likely nominee for the Democrats. GOP leaders talk unity as long as it’s one of their own with the nomination.
Witness the comments from state Senator Chuck Winder by clicking here. He’s cross-tabling with Democrat and Senate Minority Leader Michelle Stennett. These are desperate people who see their grip on power slipping.
Oh, and Bundy is building a decent fundraising machine. The next nine months are going to be quite the ride.
