Winter weather moved into southern Idaho a little more than a week from the beginning of spring.

Expect to see high winds and blowing snow as the first storm of 2022 rolls into Southern Idaho Tuesday evening.

More than 60 trees came down in my county between Monday and Tuesday, making teleworking, mail delivery, and other aspects of daily life impossible to pull off. In the Magic Valley, a brief snow break comes Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, before another storm system is expected to pass through on Tuesday.

Many parts of Idaho will see snowfall before Christmas Day on Saturday. Higher elevations could see more than a foot of snow while the lower valleys will see a mix of rain and snow before Christmas.

Blaine County is under a Winter Storm warning until Tuesday, December 14th at 11 am. According to the winter storm warning information, up to 24 inches of snow is possible in areas above 6000 feet. Lower elevations could see up to 8 inches of snow.

As most of the Magic Valley is hit with rain today the mountainous areas of Idaho is seeing considerable snowfall that has closed multiple roads and prompted forecasters to issue watches and warnings.

Get ready for more winter weather in Southern Idaho this evening, forecasters have issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of south western Idaho.

Southern Idaho is about to get another blanket of winter snow. The National Weather Service alert warns of reduced visibility at times and snow accumulations between 1 and 3 inches.
