‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Set Photo Reveals First Look at Luke Skywalker
Just when you thought we might be done with Star Wars news today — nope! The glorious internet has provided us with our first legitimate look at Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker in The Force Awakens, and he looks like he’s aged quite nicely into a wizened Jedi.
The most recent trailer for The Force Awakens does feature Luke Skywalker, though we only see his robotic hand. Until now, we hadn’t gotten a peek at Hamill in costume as Luke, though photos of the actor did indicate that this older version of the famous Jedi would be sporting a beard. Thanks to this leaked set photo, we have a better idea of what he’ll look like in the film:
He’s definitely got that Jedi master aesthetic going, very evocative of his old friend and mentor, Obi Wan Kenobi. It’s not an identical look — the robes are a bit more textured and detailed.
Disney and Lucasfilm have been smartly doling out bits and pieces of info on the film, and over the last few days we’ve gotten a good chunk of new details from The Force Awakens, primarily with regards to Adam Driver’s big bad Kylo Ren — a villain who styles himself after Luke’s father.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters on December 18.
