June 27 Fred Meyer Twin Falls School Supply Drive Canceled

A planned donation event to collect school supplies for southern Idaho classrooms has been cancelled. The event was to take place Saturday at the Twin Falls Fred Meyer location at 706 Blue Lakes Boulevard North.

The 3rd Annual 'Stuff The Bus / School Supply Drive' benefitting Project Succeed has been canceled for Saturday, June 27. We received official confirmation of the cancellation Friday morning by an event planner.

The annual event helps gather much needed supplies for teachers and students, as well as raises awareness to the importance of having classrooms fully stocked with needed supplies to ease the process of educating Idaho pupils of all grade levels.

A Planned School Supply Donation Event At Fred Meyer In Twin Falls On Saturday, June 27, Has Been Cancelled

'Beyond devastated,' were the words used to describe the mood of one event organizer on Friday after conveying the news via email. So many schools operate on very tight budgets across the state that any opportunity for the community to get to help with donating classroom supplies is a very big deal.

'Project Succeed is a direct response to the increasing budgetary reductions that have been affecting our schools,' is a direct quote from the their website.

There is good news to report, thankfully. Two more ways to donate to area schools are coming up in the next three weeks. The first opportunity is July 8 at Twin Falls Chevrolet with 'Gear Up For Good.' On July 11, the Twin Falls Walmart will host 'Stock The Classroom,' which is another event where the public can buy discounted supplies and then donate to planners who will be on-site.
