Do Magic Valley Drivers Know About the Upcoming Perrine Bridge Delays?

ORIGINAL STORY 9/8/23: We tend to joke often about the construction in Twin Falls, because it never seems to end. But behind those jokes is a truth that we hide with our laughter - we hate road construction and delays.

OK, it’s not really a hidden feeling. The issue is when we run into road construction that wasn’t expected. You could have gone around if you had known, but then you get stuck in traffic and the angry feelings creep in. Hopefully, this information will ease some unexpected angry feelings, but it won’t make the upcoming delays disappear. Sorry.

Magic Valley Drivers Should Prepare For Perrine Bridge Delays Soon

The City of Twin Falls announced that the transportation department, along with contractors, have begun conducting routine maintenance on the Perrine Bridge. They’ll be setting up scaffolding and staging areas to access underneath the bridge. Right now the work shouldn’t cause any delays in the flow of traffic, but there will be lane closures in a few weeks and the construction project is expected to last through the spring of 2024.

Drivers will need to watch for signs displaying road closure information and adjust their travel plans accordingly. The sidewalks on both sides of the Perrine Bridge will remain open during the project. During the project, crews will repair sidewalks, railings, and any cracks, plus repaint sections of the steel support beams to protect them from the elements.

The project report does state the following about traffic delays and notices:

Work will primarily occur outside of peak hours. When work must take place during typical commuting hours, ITD plans to give at least two days’ notice.

Motorists can expect lane restrictions and traffic delays over the Perrine Bridge at intermittent times throughout the duration of the project; however, northbound and southbound lanes will not be closed at the same time.
