Dangerous Twin Falls Intersection Closed Tuesday Due to Crash and Hazmat Spill
The Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office announced on social media this morning that an accident south of Twin Falls had forced the closure of a dangerous intersection.
The accident happened at the intersection of 3800E and 3200N. The picture posted to social media by the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office shows a semi-truck with a side dump trailer and an older white van in a field to the northwest of the intersection. It’s clear in the picture that the truck hit the side of the van and pushed it into the field.
The TFCSO states that they closed the intersection due to the accident and a hazmat spill. Check the TFCSO Facebook page for updates on the accident.
What isn’t 100 percent clear from the picture is who is at fault and what dangerous substance caused the hazmat issue. It does look like the semi-truck was traveling north and the van failed to yield at the stop sign coming from the east (headed west) causing it to be hit on the side and pushed into the field. That has not been confirmed by police.
The truck or the van may have been carrying a hazardous cargo or chemicals.
The intersection is the same intersection shared by the Rock Creek Fire District Station 3, on the northeast corner.
In a comment on the social media post, a man who claims to have been the driver of the semi says the driver of the van was ‘banged up’.
