UPDATE: School Bus Accident in Southern Idaho Injures 7 People, Including Students

UPDATE 12/19/25: An update from the Idaho State Police was released today. The investigation is ongoing but using video from both buses, they have determined that one of the school buses rear-ended the other one.

There were 19 occupants in the buses, the 2 drivers and 17 students. Both drivers were taken to the hospital by air ambulance and 5 students were transported for medical attention, which is 1 more than the original report stated. Everyone who was transported with injuries is now either in stable condition or has been released from the hospital.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Idaho State Police reported that an accident involving two school buses happened in Southern Idaho, injuring multiple students and both drivers.

The crash happened early Monday morning at approximately 7:15 near the city of Paul, Idaho.

In an updated Idaho State Police news release, ISP confirms that one juvenile who was on a bus involved in the accident was transported by air ambulance to a hospital in Utah. The report doesn’t specify, but the child was most likely one of the four students initially transported to local hospitals in Idaho. Both bus drivers, one of whom required extrication from the bus, were also taken by air ambulance to Idaho hospitals.

There were 17 students on the buses at the time of the accident. Idaho State Police will continue to investigate the crash, but will not release any additional information about the juveniles due to their age.

The accident happened on State Highway 25 near mile marker 43 in Minidoka County, about 3 miles west of the city of Paul.

The Idaho Transportation Department shared a post on social media directing residents to check Idaho 511 for updates on road conditions and closures.

The initial report from the ISP stated that the crash occurred at 6:15 AM, while the updated report indicates 7:15 AM.
