WATCH: Idaho Trooper Nearly Hit on Highway During Storm
On Monday morning, Idaho State Police and other emergency responders spent hours clearing multiple accidents from a Southern Idaho Highway.
ISP were assisted by the Elmore County Sheriff, Acute Rescue, and Air St. Luke’s.
28 Accidents Reported on Southern Idaho Highway During Storm
Idaho State Police reported that Monday morning between 5 and 11 AM they responded to 28 accidents involving 63 vehicles. Many of the crashes happened within 1 mile of each other. More than 20 other vehicles, not involved in the accidents, were trapped between the crash locations. An ISP Trooper was also nearly hit by a semi-truck that failed to slow for traffic and didn’t move over for an emergency vehicle.

The officer had lights, flares, and signs alerting drivers of his vehicle and the dangers ahead on the highway. ISP used this scary opportunity to remind drivers that Idaho law requires drivers to be attentive and move over for emergency vehicles

The Idaho Transportation Department reported that traffic was diverted from I-84 at Exit 95, near Mountain Home Air Force Base. There have not been any reports of injuries from the crashes.
