The annual food drive to collect frozen turkeys begins this week in Twin Falls. 2023 will be the 23rd year that the 60 Hours to Fight Hunger event has happened in the Magic Valley. This is the season of giving and also the season of need. If you can help, there are a lot of ways to be part of the spirit of giving.

Where Can Turkeys Be Donated During 60 Hours to Fight Hunger

The 60 Hours to Fight Hunger food drive will start at noon on November 16th at Rob Green GMC on Blue Lakes Blvd. and run through the 18th in Twin Falls. There will be a secondary location to buy and drop off turkeys, ham, canned goods, and money on Saturday at the Smith’s grocery store on Addison Ave. East in Twin Falls.

Even though the event mainly takes place in Twin Falls, the donations will help families across the Magic Valley and all of South Central Idaho. If you want to donate but aren’t able to stop at either of the drop-off locations, you can also make monetary donations on the South Central Community Action Partnership website. So, if you can’t donate a turkey or a can of corn, please go to the website and donate a dollar or two to help. Donations can be made through PayPal and Bank Cards.

Magic Valley Fighting Thanksgiving Hunger With Turkey Drive This Week

60 Hours to Fight Hunger has helped feed families each Thanksgiving with more than 20,000 turkeys in just the last 10 years. The goal for 2023 is to get at least 2,300 turkeys.

Other than turkeys, you can also donate hams, canned goods, and cash. SCCAP then takes the money donations and purchases necessary food items to add to the other food donations.

If you are one of the many families struggling this year, you can apply to receive one of the free food boxes by visiting the South Central Community Action Partnership building on Washington Street and at the office in Burley. Food boxes will be distributed to the qualifying families on November 20th and 21st.
