Living in Boise and the greater Treasure Valley is a true luxury. There's no denying how clean the city is--but it's also the overall safety of our area that helps make it such a special place. Especially when it comes to raising a family here.

Safety in our neighborhoods and in our streets is promoted by a sense of neighborly care--we're always looking out for one another. Our local law enforcement crews are fantastic at community policing, as well.

Sometimes, however, there are outside threats to our safety that must be dealt with.

This week, it's 'urban turkeys' that city officials are warning the public about! We've got to stay safe from these crazy creatures!

Just when you thought the geese were out of control...the turkeys seem to have taken over these streets!?

Take a look at what the City of Boise along with Idaho Fish & Game have to say about staying safe when it comes to angry, 'Urban Turkeys'!

Be big, get loud, honk the horn, and don't back down!

Talk about a pep talk...why are these turkeys so mean and scary!?

If you're a home owner, official say that there are ways you can try and 'turkey-proof' your home. They suggest:

  • Allowing dogs to chase the turkeys off, where appropriate
  • Getting motion activated sprinklers or spraying them with a hose!
  • Using reflective tape or pinwheels to scare them!

Of course, like with any wildlife, the public is strongly reminded to NOT feed the turkeys.
