TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)- Two of Idaho Police officers and two transportation workers will be given thanks an honors by Idaho State Police Firday. Certificates of Appreciation for Heroism will be given to Julie Roseborough and Renae Eddings, both Idaho Department of Transportation employees who helped save a man’s life in 2012.

The two were working at the ort of entry on I-84 east of Burley when a man began to have heart problems. ISP Trooper Brian Stradling was called to scene and helped save the man’s life. Trooper Stradling will be given the Life Saving Award. In addition, the long overdue Purple Heart award will be given to Corporal Steve Hobbs who was shot in the line of duty in 1991. Corporal Hobbs was on traffic patrol on the stretch of i-84 in Southern Idaho when he stopped a car for speeding near the Utah boarder.

When he approached the car Corporal Hobbs was shot by the driver. A pursuit began but the trooper fell unconscious because of blood loss and crashed his car. He survived and the shooter was arrested and later convicted. Idaho State Police Director Colonel Ralph Powell says the Corporal Hobbs hasn’t been awarded until now because at the time he was shot the Purple Heart award didn’t exist.
