Idaho Ties To This Years Super Bowl
Yesterday I was invited to a "Super Car" meet. Allow me to translate just in case you don't speak car... hahaha. A Super Car Meet is basically a bunch of Super Car owners and enthusiast getting together to showcase their prized possessions. Typically there are a lot of spectators and the opportunities for networking tend to be great.
As I was enjoying the cars and company I started to think to myself... there is a lot of money here. I wondered where the money came from and then this crossed my mind... this is a football town and there are a lot of former Broncos that have made a lot of money, I wonder if there is anyone here with ties to Super Bowl or the teams this year?
I don't know that Boise resident Michael Christianson, the former offensive line coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who helped the team get to Super Bowl XXXVII in 2003 was at the car meet last night but he definitely has ties to this year big game. There it is, Idaho does have ties to Super Bowl 55.
In an interview Christianson told ktvb how his team made it to the big dance...“It’s better to be lucky than to be good, and we had a phenomenal defense that stayed healthy with Derrick Brooks, Warren Sapp, and Simeon Rice – guys like that on defense,” he said. “When you’re plus 13 in the turnover margin, you’re going to have success. And that was it for us.”
When asked who he thought would win this weekend he said “I’m going to root for the Bucs, but in the end, I’m just hoping for a good game. You’re talking about a guy who’s 43 years old in Tom Brady and leading another team to a Super Bowl and a chance to win it. I can’t even count how many he’s won, and then you’ve got the young upstart,” Christianson said. “For me, the big storyline is going to be these two quarterbacks and how they play against each other and who rises to the top.”
They say the world is a small place, who would of thought that Idaho would have ties to this years Super Bowl. Christianson has been retired for 8 years now and is living his best life in Treasure Valley.
