BOISE, Idaho (AP) — U.S. Rep. Raul Labrador exchanged jabs with his Democratic challenger James Piotrowski during their first and only time on a debate stage in their fight for Idaho's 1st Congressional District.

Monday's hour-long debate was hosted by KTVB-TV in Boise. The two candidates are not scheduled to face off in any future debates. Piotrowski, a Boise attorney, spent most of his time attacking Labrador's voting record and failure to pass any significant bills on immigration reform.

However, Labrador — a three-term congressman and tea party favorite — countered by accusing Piotrowski of lying and asking if the Democratic challenger knew how to read. Labrador added that he often votes on budget bills that adds unnecessary spending.
