BOISE, Idaho (KLIX) Idaho citizens have been asked by the governor to help catalog the various veterans and war memorials set up across the state. The Office of Governor "Butch" Otter announced this week the Idaho Division of Veterans Services plans to record all monuments to up to honor Idahoans who served.

            “It’s important for us all to remember with gratitude all those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our nation, our people and our way of life,” Governor Otter said in a written statement. “Communities throughout Idaho pay homage to the courageous men and women who laid down their lives for us. We want to celebrate those local tributes to patriotism and valor that help us never forget the great legacy of our heroes.”

People and groups are being asked to use the website www.historypin.org to place photos and information about the various monuments and memorials. The website is free to use and made to share historical and current photographs. It also features a map that allows users to place pins on the location where a monument or memorial stands. The state has provided information on how to participate HERE.
