George Strait Invests in Texas Golf Course
In January, George Strait will head out on the road for his last tour ever (or so he says). But the King of Country won't have to worry about his pocketbook once he takes himself off the touring circuit. He just invested in a San Antonio, Texas golf course to guarantee it.
Strait is part of the Vaqueros del Mar investor group in the Alamo City area. Recently, the group purchased a golf course called the Resort at Tapatio Springs. The plan is to transform the grounds into a top-notch golfing destination. In the process, Strait and his friends hope that they'll attract more golfers -- and more money -- to the green.
According to WorldGolf.com, Strait called acquiring the Resort at Tapatio Springs a "dream come true."
We're not sure how the country icon will find the time to keep his eye on updates at his new golf course, but we're sure he'll manage to check in from the road this winter. The country music legend has already sold out six dates on his 2013 Cowboy Rides Away Tour.
“I never expected the fans would react like this. It’s just incredible," he said of the tour. “I really do have the best fans in the world, and I’m looking forward to seeing you all on the road very soon.”
Strait's Cowboy Rides Away stint kicks off in January and runs through June. We have a feeling that as soon as Strait retires his tour bus, he'll head to the Resort at Tapatio Springs for a nice, relaxing round of golf.
