Fire Restrictions Lifted for N. Nevada

ELKO, Nev. (AP) — Seasonal fire restrictions have been lifted on state and federal lands across most of northeast Nevada. U.S. land managers say much of northeast Nevada is still experiencing drought so they urge the public to continue to show caution.

But they say the region has received enough moisture in recent weeks to warrant lifting the ban on campfires and other prohibitions over the weekend. Fire restrictions are no longer in place in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in the Jarbidge, Mountain City and Ruby Mountains ranger districts.

They've also been lifted at all national wildlife refuges and other lands administered in the area by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife, Bureau of Land Management Bureau of Indian Affairs and Nevada Division of Forestry.
