Fire Destroys Home in Carey

CAREY, Idaho (KLIX)-Fire crews responded early Saturday morning to a structure fire in Carey. According to Carey Rural Fire and Rescue Chief Richard Kimball, crews were called out at around 12:20 a.m. to the building known as the Carey Loading Chute, a former restaurant and bar that was being lived in by one person. The individual living there was inside when the fire started and was able to get out but, went back in to save his dogs. According to Chief Kimball. It took most of the morning, roughly eight hours, for crews to get the fire under control and out. One fire crew from Hailey and one from Bellevue responded to help the two Carey Rural Fire crews. Firefighters were able to keep the blaze from moving to a nearby trailer park. Chief Kimball said the cause is under investigation and the building is a total loss. He said this is the second major structure fire in Carey this year. No firefighters were injured during the fire.
