The starfighter EVE: Valkyrie has been confirmed to be a console exclusive for the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset.

According to Digital Spy, EVE: Valkyrie was originally intended to be a tech demo for the VR headset, but now it has been confirmed that it has been fleshed out into a full game and will debut as a launch title.

On the official Oculus blog, Oculus said they decided that the tech demo they originally made was so enjoyable that they decided to expand it into a release title. CCP, an Oculus developer, has stated, "We strongly believe the best VR experiences are going to be the ones built from the ground up for VR, and we've kept that in mind while developing Valkyrie."

At first glance, Valkyrie might look like the asteroid-shooting sequence from Dead Space, but we assure you it's much more than that. Valkyrie will simulate a full space-shooter experience as you take control of the inside of a fighter's cockpit while you see and hear every asteroid, laser blast and explosion blur by your hull in a full VR landscape.

Oculus has also stated that EVE: Valkyrie will feature some form of connectivity between other EVE titles, such as EVE Online, but hasn't provided any details on how. EVE: Valkyrie will debut as an exclusive launch title alongside the Oculus Rift headset sometime in late 2014 or early 2015. Stay tuned as we continue to provide up-to-date information on both EVE: Valkyrie and Oculus' anticipated virtual reality headset.
