Even the films that are considered “lesser” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Thor, Ant-Man) still tend to generate some positive buzz, though most fans would agree that the Captain America films are superior — and Winter Soldier is almost unanimously revered as the best of the bunch. So it’s not quite surprising that early word on Civil War is good, but the reactions so far are overwhelmingly positive, especially when it comes to that new Spider-Man.

The social media embargo for Civil War lifted late last night and opinions have been flooding in since then. Collected below are a few of the reactions from Twitter, including our own Mike Sampson’s feelings on the film, which he says makes for a better Avengers movie than the last Avengers movie — which is excellent news:

Indeed, the airport fight scene Birth.Movies.Death’s Devin Faraci mentions below seems to be the show-stealer, according to many of those who have seen Civil War. And people really love Tom Holland’s Peter Parker / Spider-Man and Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther:

There’s much more over on Twitter if you simply search for Civil War, obviously. And there’s no shortage of comparisons between Zack Snyder’s grim-and-gritty Batman v Superman and Marvel’s Civil War, with some applauding the latter’s ability to deliver a dramatic, high-stakes superhero film that still manages to retain its sense of fun.

Reviews will begin pouring in next week for Civil War, which hits theaters on May 6.
