Can Hand Sanitizer Explode in Your Hot Car? [VIDEO]

2020 has been a helluva year, and it's not over yet. In addition to murder hornets, COVID-19, no live entertainment, and the entire nation being shut down, now we have....exploding hand sanitizer?

We all know how scorching hot it gets in the south Louisiana summer, and why we should never, ever leave anything of value in the car from May to October. We're taught this from birth. But we've all seen the stories about how water bottles left in your vehicle can explode and cause a fire. And if that didn't terrify the heck out of you, then maybe you are not as much of a scaredy cat as I am.

The Western Lakes Fire District in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin is warning people about leaving hand sanitizer in a hot car, and they've got photos to prove to you just how dangerous it actually is.Their goal is to try and educate people on the hazards. 'By its nature, most hand sanitizer is alcohol-based and therefore flammable. Keeping it in your car during hot weather, exposing it to sun causing magnification of light through the bottle, and particularly being next to open flame while smoking in vehicles or grilling can lead to disaster'.
