When was the last time you got up early to grab a sunrise with your favorite cup of coffee? They're great shared, but even better alone.

There's so much humans take for granted that it's almost devastating for our souls. Guilty as charged right here.

I love all types and prefer the rising ones over the setting ones. I'm partial to those that begin my day with a deluge of colors over breaking ocean waves and a horizon that seems as if you could sail to it in under 30 minutes.

Where Do You Go In Idaho When Your Soul Needs A Sunrise?

A major reason I prefer sunrises is that they are the symbol of a new day--a reset, if you will. Whatever unpleasant, line-crossing things we did or said the previous day can be mended with a fresh sunrise.

Being a big fan of cinema, one of the best representations of human beings taking such natural pleasures for granted stands out in the soccer scene of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. In this case, it was a sunset that was so magically captured by lenses.

My go-to Idaho spots for great ones are Alturas Lake and Stanley Lake. Maybe you're one of the lucky ones who need to travel no further than your own backyard.

Nobody knows how many more sunrises or sunsets we're going to have the privilege of witnessing before we leave the physical world, so I think I'll start making a habit of catching more of them.

Without giving away your favorite spot, what part of the state do you go to for a soul-cleansing sunrise?
