Article in Wood River Valley Sparks Protests from Gun Advocates
Ketchum, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - An Op-Ed article in the Idaho Mountain Express newspaper has triggered an armed protest.
A group called III% Idaho is organizing a rally to protest an Op-Ed article from June 10th, “Shame Could Control Guns Better than New Laws.” On their website, III% Idaho says they intend to maintain their God-given rights to liberty and property. Today the City of Ketchum sent out a press release to advise the city of the “open-carry” walk. The rally will take place on Saturday, June 20th at 11am.
Brandon Curtiss, spokesman for III% Idaho.
“What we decided to do was put together a open carry, which would be an open carry of fire arms and it will be limited to side arms, no rifles and we’re going to have a rally and march through the City of Ketchum, letting them know we’re not okay with that and we’re not going to stand for that,”
Curtiss ensures the public this is a peaceful protest and they are just going to make a statement. Unfortunately, we were unable to reach anyone at the Idaho Mountain Express newspaper for comment.
