‘Golden Girls’ Theme Song Writer Andrew Gold Dead at 59
Singer-songwriter Andrew Gold, whose song 'Thank You For Being a Friend' was made popular by the Emmy-winning comedy 'The Golden Girls,' died Friday in his sleep from a heart attack, PEOPLE has confirmed. He was 59.
Gold, who worked with artists ranging from Cher to Art Garfunkel during his career, set out as a solo artist in 1975 following a stint with the band Bryndle. In 1977, he released arguably his best-known song, 'Lonely Boy,' which peaked at number seven on the U.S. charts.

James Arness, Star of ‘Gunsmoke,’ Dead at 88
Actor James Arness, who played the legendary Marshal Matt Dillon on the popular Western series 'Gunsmoke,' died Friday of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles, a family spokesperson has confirmed. He was 88.
The larger-than-life actor, who stood at a towering 6'7," played the indelible Marshal for 20 seasons and over 600 episodes, helping to make 'Gunsmoke' one of the longest-running primetime series in TV history.

Online ‘Planking’ Craze Leads to Death
The Internet photo sensation called "planking," which can be best described as extreme lying down, led to a 20-year-old Australian man plunging to his death while partaking in the fad this weekend, police said.
Queensland police said the man fell several stories from a Brisbane high-rise early Sunday morning while engaging in the activity, in which the planker lies flat on their stomach in various environments while onlookers capture photos. Those photos are then uploaded to various social media sites.
