Bruce Willis Says Goodbye to Ski Resort

FAIRFIELD, Idaho (AP) — Actor Bruce Willis is bidding adieu to a small Idaho ski area he’s owned since the 1990s — by donating it to a nonprofit group. The Idaho Statesman reported Thursday that Willis says he couldn’t be happier with a crew of local people from Fairfield who formed the nonprofit earlier this year to take over operations at Soldier Mountain. The Hollywood actor who stars in the “Die Hard” franchise said in a press release he wishes the group “the very best.” Among those who formed the group to take over Soldier Mountain is Boise attorney Will Varin. Varin says he grew up skiing here and wants to keep up the ski hill’s legacy — while revamping services including catskiing. The U.S. Forest Service is working on renewing those permits.
