There has long been the question of if we are alone in the universe. There is so much unknown about space and plenty to explore and learn, and from time to time there will be things spotted in the sky that make one ask questions like, 'What is that?' 'did you see that,' or 'Is that a UFO?' There are certain things spotted in the sky, often at night, that leave one scratching their head, and recently there were some sightings in the sky that have raised these questions once again, but what was it?

What Was in the Sky Above the Magic Valley?

Last week, my wife and I were pulling out of the driveway to get some dinner, when we looked up into the night sky and saw a group of lights in a row. Normally we would think it is stars, or something natural, except for the part where they were moving. It was about 12 to 14 white spots, moving across the sky. My wife pulled out her phone to take a picture, and as she did, they began to disappear one by one. The picture above is what she was able to get before they vanished for good, which doesn't do the incident justice. What were these moving lights and where did they go?

What were the lights that were moving across the sky last week? Could it have been Santa doing a practice run before the big day at the end of the year? It is possible, but with so much to do at the North Pole to get ready, he likely doesn't have time for a practice flight. Could it have been a group of UFOs scouting our planet? It definitely could be and should be a cause for concern. The disappearing act could have been them flying out of sight from the naked eye. Could it have been satellites? It is possible, but doubtful that multiple satellites were flying that close together and would randomly vanish like that, although there is a group of satellites known to be visible by the naked eye. Another possible answer is that there has been a meteor shower taking place lately, which is best to watch on December 13, and it could have been meteors that we saw. It also, could have been something else entirely, but what?

It is likely the mystery will never be solved, but that is a part of the fun. There are so many unanswered questions about the universe and what is beyond our planet, that much of it will always remain a mystery and become a guessing game. Did you see the lights? What did you think they were? Now is a great time to pull out your telescopes if you have one and see some of the amazing beauty in the sky and perhaps see what you can find.
