'Thor: The Dark World' looks to be bigger and better than the original movie!
'Thor: The Dark World' looks to be bigger and better than the original movie!
'Thor 2,' dubbed 'The Dark World,' will see Chris Hemsworth return as Marvel's mighty God of Thunder to crush some new foes with his hammer, and the first trailer is said to drop next week on April 23 (according to the film's international Facebook page). In anticipation, Marvel has unleashed the first poster, and though it doesn't reveal much, it's definitely got our geek juices flowing.
'Thor: The Dark World' will soon be upon us, hitting theaters November 8, 2013, and so will Marvel's accompanying toy line. We got the chance to attend Hasbro's Fan Media Day during the 2013 American International Toy Fair, which showed off the new 'Thor 2' action figures and gadgets.
Previous toy releases, like most recently with the 'Iron Man 3' LEGO sets, have teased potential spoilers from their corresponding movies, so what hidden 'Thor: The Dark World' gems might be hidden in this new toy crop?
After select looks at 'Thor: The Dark World' from various set photos, the first official look at the upcoming 'Thor' sequel has finally surfaced in the latest issue of Empire Magazine. Though the 'Man of Steel'-covered edition includes a ton of new looks at some of the superhero movies on the docket for 2013, we still can't wait to see Chris Hemsworth pick his hammer back up for another battle.
Though the film has already begun shooting, it seems that the casting of 'Thor: The Dark World' wasn't finished, and the film has added two new players: Richard Brake and Clive Russell.
My 3-year-old son Jack is currently a huge Avengers fan. He loves Iron Man, The Hulk, and Thor, but far and away his favorite Avenger is Captain America. He has one of those frisbee Captain America shields with him at all times now. It even has dog teeth marks where he had to wrestle it away from the neighbor dog after a fateful battle.
Lately he's been watching the new Avengers cartoon on Disney's XD and really enjoying it, but I'm worried that he may not enjoy the movie this summer as much as the cartoons.
As expected, 'Thor' enjoyed a solid performance at the weekend box office.
The superhero flick, which impressed most critics with its action-packed storyline and breakout performance by star Chris Hemsworth, took in an impressive $66 million, leaving the rest of the competition in the dust. Globally, the film has already grossed $242 million, according to Variety.
Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend.
One has the makings of a mega-blockbuster in 'Thor,' the latest in a long line of superhero movies from Marvel. Interestingly enough, this one is from critically acclaimed and Oscar-nominated director Kenneth Branagh, the man behind such Shakespeare adaptations as 'Henry V.'
The other big releases this weekend are a nice alternative to the loud thunderous action in 'Thor.' The first is 'Something Borrowed,' based on the popular book by Emily Giffin, starring Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin. If that doesn't float you boat, you may want to try 'Jumping the Broom,' about two very different families who come together for a wedding at Martha's Vineyard.
Which of these movies will you see this weekend? Take a look at their trailers after the jump, then check out a list of movies still playing in theaters.
