One of the great joys of the Marvel movie universe has been watching the various characters and storylines overlap and converge in surprising and exciting ways. However, fans shouldn't get too excited about a potential 'Avengers' and 'Guardians of the Galaxy' crossover anytime soon. According to Joss Whedon, that isn't happening. (At least not yet.)
When Joss Whedon announced he was adding two new characters to 'Avengers 2' in the brother/sister team of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, fans couldn't help but immediately start speculating who would be cast as the new additions to the team. Previously, we reported that Irish actress Saoirse Ronan was the top choice for Scarlet Witch and now we know who Whedon and Marvel have their eye on to play Quicksilver. And it's a name superhero movie fans will definitely be familiar with.
The first trailer for Marvel's Joss Whedon-directed 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' gave us a clue as to which 'Avengers' stars (beside Coulson) would make the first appearance in ABC's new series. But superheroes aren't the only Marvel characters we'd want to see. Were the man himself, Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury, to show up in Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,' how would Jackson want it to be done?
Robert Downey Jr.'s contract with Marvel is up, which may make things a little difficult for Joss Whedon when it comes time to film 'The Avengers 2.' And Whedon says he just won't do it without his 'Iron Man.'
Director Joss Whedon almost has his pick of the litter when it comes to superheroes to cast for 'Avengers 2' there's one character he would love to include more than anyone else: Batman! But is there really any chance of this massive crossover ever happening?
The current discussion around 'The Avengers 2' has shifted from the stars demanding higher pay to something equally inside baseball: the rights to the characters of Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch. In the pages of the comics, they're mutants and Avengers, which has led to a pretty sticky situation. Fox, who has the X-Men rights, plans to use Quicksilver for the upcoming 'X-Men: Days of Future Past.' Marvel and writer/director Joss Whedon plan to use him for 'Avengers 2.' This conflict remained hidden when Whedon went on Late Night to chat about the characters with Jimmy Fallon.
Coulson lives! We're not expecting the full 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' teaser trailer until sometime this evening during the 'Once Upon A Time' season finale, but Marvel has already kicked things off with our first look at the new Joss Whedon superhero series, greenlit for a full season this past Friday. Well, what are you waiting for? Meet the 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' in the first teaser inside!
'Avengers 2' doesn't begin filming for another six months or so but with the first draft of the script completed, have Marvel and director Joss Whedon already started to discuss casting for the superhero sequel? We just found out last week that 'Avengers 2' would feature two new characters in Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver and today comes word that Marvel already has their eyes on the actress they want to star as Wanda Maximoff. So who is it?
Earlier this week, 'Avengers 2' director Joss Whedon hinted that in the upcoming sequel "there will definitely be some people that will shake up." So just who are these new additions to the 'Avengers' movie? We've confirmed the identities of two Marvel superheroes who will be joining Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Hawkeye and Black Widow on their next adventure!
As 'Iron Man 3' gets set to hit theaters this weekend, Joss Whedon continues to tease 'Avengers 2' with public comments. Just a few days after he mentioned he's adding a brother/sister team to the upcoming sequel, comes Whedon's comments on Robert Downey, Jr.'s potential retirement and the "big finale" coming in 'Avengers 2' as the superhero team gets ready to face off against Thanos.
Great news, folks! While we still have plenty more of the waiting game to play until we see 'The Avengers 2' in 2015, Joss Whedon has indeed finished a draft of the script and he says "it's in a very good place." That said, how would you like your first taste of what to expect from the far-from-finished storyline?
