Spike? What Spike? Idaho Power Explains [Update]

Yesterday, I wrote an article about how some of us seem to be experiencing a marked increase in our power bill and it was hard to dismiss the spike coinciding with the installation of the new Smart Meters.

Thanks for all of your comments.  Some of you said that you saw a significant spike... Others noted that your bill was about the same or even went down.

Idaho Power posted on our Facebook wall and suggested that it would be a good idea to give them a call.  I did just that yesterday afternoon.

Has Your Power Bill Doubled Since Installing a Smart Meter? [Audio]

A few weeks ago, Idaho Power stopped by my house and switched out my old meter for a new "Smart Meter."  It's my understanding, that among other things, the Smart Meter is supposed to keep accurate tabs on my power consumption and eliminate the need to have someone stop by my house once a month and read the meter.  You can read more about Idaho Power's Smart Meters

I'll get to it... Yesterday, I opened my power bill and dropped enough bricks to give the wall of China a run for its money.  My power bill had DOUBLED.
