July 13, 2012 I don't consider myself superstitious. Black cats don't bother me, I'm pretty sure I've walked under a few ladders and I drop salt without throwing it over my shoulder.
But when I REALLY started to think about it, I found a hidden superstition. When my wife and I are watching our kids play sports, we sometimes put the video camera away for fear that taping it will "jinx" them.
Ah, yes. Another Friday the 13th, when the ultra-superstitious will hide at home with the shades drawn and hope nothing ill befalls them. But have you ever wondered why this particular date has the power to freak out so many people?

January 13, 2012 We've received numerous reports of black cats skulking around KEZJ.com today, and we're convinced it has something to do with it being Friday the 13th. So far they seem benign, but that's how these things always start.

January 12, 2012 UPDATE: Yesterday I asked if you believe that Friday the 13th actually caused bad luck in your life. Looks like 60% of those who voted just think it's a silly superstition. Maybe you're right. Or maybe you have just spit in the face of the fates...
