I am not superstitious. I don't throw salt over my shoulder when it spills, I'm not afraid of black cats, and I've broken a mirror or two in my time. But there's something about Friday the 13th that unsettles me.

The rational part of my brain knows that it's just a day; knows that nothing truly bad happens on Friday the 13th. There have been numerous reports that prove statistically that there are no more accidents, car accidents, or deaths on Friday the 13th than any other day.

I've had bad things happen to me on Friday the 13th... but it when I look back at the events it was either a) coincidental, or b) self-fulfilling prophecy. Sometimes bad things happen, sometimes they happen on Friday the 13th. That's a coincidence. And sometimes when you absolutely know something bad is going to happen, you actually make it happen without realizing it. That's a self-fulfilling prophecy.

So I am of two minds on Friday the 13th. Part of me just believes it's coincidental, and not rational, and the other half wants to stay in bed all day to hide.

What do you think?
