 The DoT has announced that the only way they can legally tell airlines to stop serving peanuts is if a major study proves that serving peanuts on a plane can put people at mortal risk.

Ever since the airlines realized they could get away with charging baggage fees, customers responded by checking far fewer bags and jamming stuff into their carry-ons to save money.
