During a Nintendo Direct feature in Japan this morning, a new Super Smash Bros. trailer debuted revealing Shulk, hero of Xenoblade Chronicles, as a new character.

The trailer shows multiple fighting styles for the new combatant, all stemming from his sword Monado. We even get a glimpse of his Final Smash, where he enlists help from some of his fellow Xenoblade cast members to lay a beatdown on whatever characters he catches in the attack. We also get a look at the Xenoblade-themed stage for the Wii U version, and it looks massive just like the game it comes from.

Most interesting about the reveal is that he looks just as he did in the big Smash leak earlier in the week, including his render on the main Smash Brothers website, signaling that the information may have been solid. Thinking back to it, that means there are still ten characters yet to be revealed, veterans and newcomers, for the upcoming Smash Bros. game, including Wario, Ness, Ganondorf, ROB, Bowser Jr, etc. This roster just gets bigger by the day.

Also announced was a Club Nintendo promo involving Super Smash Bros: if you purchase and register both versions of the game on the Club Nintendo site, you will receive a two-disc music CD of soundtrack highlights from each of the two Smash games. We're not sure which songs are on the CDs, but we can bet they'll be a hot commodity.

Super Smash Bros. launches Oct. 3 for the Nintendo 3DS and this holiday season for the Wii U.
