Summer has arrived and brought with it an abundance of sunshine. My son Jack and I decided to put the sun to good use and make our own solar cooker to roast up some hotdogs. It was an easy and fun project, and only called for Jack to be patient long enough for the hotdog to cook, which is hard for a three year old.

The Solar Hotdog Cooker is basically a simple oven that uses the sun to create radiant heat. By using a Pringles potato chip can, and some aluminum foil you can create a cooker that will heat up some 'dogs in about an hour.

Not the most efficient way to cook, but it sure is fun to build with the kids and the look on their face when you take out a fully cooked hotdog is priceless.
