REXBURG, Idaho (AP) — Authorities in eastern Idaho are investigating after someone killed a bull moose.

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game in a statement on Friday says the moose was killed at the Cartier Slough Wildlife Management Area sometime before Nov. 10.

The agency says there was no attempt to salvage the meat or antlers.

Agency spokesman Gregg Losinski says details about the type of weapon used to kill the moose aren't being released because it's an active investigation.

Losinski says if the moose was killed in an act of self-defense, the person should have immediately reported what happened.

Moose hunting tags are among the most difficult to obtain in Idaho.
