Brantley Gilbert and his new wife haven't been married a week yet, but they're already considering children.

In fact, Gilbert and Amber Cochran were talking about having kids before they wed on Sunday (June 28) at his home in Georgia. After Midnite host Cody Alan caught up with Gilbert at the iHeartRadio Country Festival in May, where he revealed that they would like to have two kids.

“I think two would be cool, like a boy and a girl. I think that would be awesome," he says, adding, "This is way down the road.”

Cochran is a schoolteacher from Gilbert's hometown. They met in a youth group at church a decade ago, and dated on and off for years before finally settling down together. Gilbert revealed their engagement on the Bobby Bones radio show in October of 2014. “I met this little girl 10 years ago. You’ll hear her in most of my songs,” he said, adding, “She was the one who got away for about five years ... I can honestly say I’ve never been happier.”

Fans have already heard all about Gilbert's new bride, though they might have been unaware of it. “Amber is an amazing person and has inspired a lot of my songs, from ‘More Than Miles’ to ‘You Don’t Know Her Like I Do’ for the last 10 years,” Gilbert told People. “I’m a blessed man to have her back in my life and can’t wait to make her my wife.”

Gilbert was previously engaged to Jana Kramer, but they broke it off in 2013.

The "One Hell of an Amen" singer tells Taste of Country that he and his bride are planning to have tattoos inscribed on their ring fingers to commemorate their marriage.
