A 58-year-old Burley business owner died following an apparent homicide Wednesday afternoon. Cassia County Sheriff Jay Heward said deputies found Christopher A. Fassett shot twice on Wednesday at about 5 p.m. at 436 W. Main St. Fassett died at the scene.
DNA testing shows human remains are that of a Burley’s Tiffani Streling, who has been missing for more than two years.
The Jerome County Sheriff’s Office made the announcement Monday, a few weeks after the remains were found.
A north Idaho man has become the first in the state to die from flu-related complications, signaling what may be an early flu season. The Spokesman-Review reports that the man was in his 50s. His death was confirmed to be influenza-related this week, according to the Panhandle Health District.
Authorities are investigating the death of an inmate at a prison south of Boise after he was assaulted earlier this morning. In a press statement, the Idaho Department of Corrections said Glenn Arthur Cox had been assaulted at just before 1 a.m.
