I took my wife and six-year-old son through the outdoor haunted house in October of 2021, and I remember being blown away by some of the detail and decorations the property owners managed to put on display to visitors.

Organizers of this year's Haunted Mansions of Albion Halloween attraction recently held auditions for this year's crew of monsters, ghouls, spirits, and demented characters, and are preparing to leave the lights off for brave visitors in less than two weeks.

This Halloween had special meaning to me because last year's celebration was tainted by the first eight months of the pandemic, and one specific local event made our family's Halloween.

Idaho Falls is home to a staged haunted house that many people believe out scares all others in the state. It was voted a "top-rated" Idaho attraction in 2019.

Idahohauntedhouses.com gave this attraction a scare rating of "very scary," so if someone in your family has a bad ticker, or doesn't handle being scared well, you might want to tell them about the Haunted River the next time you see them.

Organizers of this year's event are asking those who plan to attend to get tickets online ahead of time, and to also make sure they are symptom free before entering the property.

If you did go, and enjoyed yourselves, that's fantastic. I am merely sharing the sentiments of a large number of people in the community who were disappointed by the experience, and in no way attempting to criticize the event itself, or the fairgrounds for hosting it.

People visit Idaho year-round to see the various tourist attractions and if you live in Idaho you have probably been to most of them too.
