Magic Valley deputies involved in a high-speed chase Saturday say the suspect fleeing caused a small electrical explosion before being stopped.

According to court documents, Twin Falls County Deputies attempted to stop Dudley Macneil, 63, driving a 1999 Mercedes SUV in the area of U.S. Highway 93 and State Highway 30; he was suspected of having several warrants out for his arrest.

One deputy tried to pull the vehicle over, but it kept going, reaching speeds of 95 mph. Eventually, the SUV turned towards Curry Crossing and went off the road, airborne, and hit a power pole support wire, severing the top six feet of the pole.

Deputies say in charging documents that it caused a small explosion of the electrical box on the pole and dropped live wires onto the roadway at 2600 E. The pursuing deputy stayed where the live wires had fallen and the suspect allegedly continued on at 100 m.p.h. and at one point went off the road again into high brush and ran over a log.

The pursuit went north towards Pole Line Road and Highway 93 and then back south as another deputy tried several maneuvers to get the SUV to stop. One of the maneuvers was successful and ended with the SUV rolling onto its side. Macneil was taken to the hospital to be checked out and later booked into the Twin Falls County Jail on a charge of fleeing or attempting to flee police.
