We've been awaiting more news on 'Mission: Impossible 5,' and whether or not the rumors that star Tom Cruise would be reuniting with his 'Jack Reacher' director Christopher McQuarrie for the upcoming sequel were true -- as it turns out, McQuarrie is directing 'Mission: Impossible 5,' unless our eyes deceive us.

We of course take this to mean that he has accepted the mission to direct 'Mission: Impossible 5,' which will reunite him with his 'Jack Reacher' leading man Tom Cruise. The pair also worked together on the McQuarrie-scripted 2008 film 'Valkyrie.'

Little is known about 'Mission: Impossible 5,' but Paramount is expected to make a more formal announcement later today, according to The Wrap. The upcoming sequel follows the wildly successful 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol,' which added Jeremy Renner of 'The Avengers' and 'The Bourne Legacy' to the mix and grossed close to $700 million worldwide in 2011, clearly indicating that people still love watching Cruise's Ethan Hunt as he goes on adventurous and often very dangerous spy missions.

'Mission: Impossible 5' should begin shooting relatively soon for a 2015 release.
