Carrie Underwood had an accident at her Tennessee home last week (Nov. 10) that resulted in surgery on her broken wrist. She's doing well in her recovery, and both the singer and husband Mike Fisher are thankful for fans during what he says has been "tough times."

"Thank you all for the tremendous love and support for Carrie over the last few days," Fisher writes on Instagram on Thursday (Nov. 16). "I'm reminded that there are so many good people in this world. I'm reminded that through our pain, fears and tough times God is with us and He's painting a beautiful story through it all (Romans 8:28). Sometimes it's hard to understand why things happen but we thank him and Praise His name in the midst of it all! Thanks again!!"

Underwood underwent surgery on Tuesday (Nov. 14), and in a tweet the country star says she's doing great and is grateful for the medical staff, family and friends who've been taking care of her. "All went well," she says, "even though I’ll be setting off airport metal detectors from now on."

Initial reports after the incident indicated that Underwood suffered a broken wrist, cuts and abrasions when she fell on some steps outside her Nashville-area home. Fisher flew home overnight to take care of her, and she only revealed she would need some time to recover. Still, Underwood at the Country Rising benefit concert in Nashville, as well as a scheduled appearance at the Oklahoma Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Thursday (Nov. 16), disqualifying her to be inducted in 2017.
