WATCH: Staff Responds to Injuries Reported At Shoshone Ice Caves
Many of you over the Labor Day weekend heard news about an injury incident that happened at the Shoshone Ice Caves north of Twin Falls.
Reports began surfacing Sunday evening at approximately 6 P.M. from local emergency responders regarding the collapse of a section of the walkway in the popular cave attraction.

As expected, a great deal of confusion resulted and misinformation was leaked to the public by people on-site. A formal response was issued by management to the attraction's official Meta page.
My family and I did the tour about six weeks ago and enjoyed the experience. The temperature in the cave is between 25 and 28 degrees, according to the tour guide we had. There are sections of the wooden walkway that are suspended several feet over the ice and are bolted into the surrounding rock.

Initial reports stated that numerous people were 'trapped', which turned out to be false. There were minor injuries following the incident. A YouTube clip was shared by a visitor on Monday who dropped a cellphone into the water after the walkway detached from its mounting.
We want to thank those emergency responders who arrived quickly to the scene and treated the injured. One Shoshone Ice Caves link has its status listed as 'temporarily closed'.
I spoke with a staff member on Tuesday at 8:30 A.M., and they stated that some 'maintenance' was taking place and that they will likely be closed 'for quite a while', which could mean that the cave's season is officially over until next year.
