Opinion: Donald Trump Acknowledging Taylor Swift Was A Mistake
It's been almost two weeks since pop megastar Taylor Swift announced she's endorsing Kamala Harris in her bid to become America's first female president and the forty-seventh in the nation's history. What's really interesting about this development is that she solicited a response from Donald Trump, which might not be a good thing for those voting Republican this November.
The idea that Taylor Swift could swing Idaho from red to blue is of course an absurd one. If history is any indication, at least 65 percent of Gem State voters will back Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential election. But, recent comments from the former president appear to be very un-Trump-like and may be cause for concern.
There's no question that Swift's endorsement will result in hundreds of thousands of new votes for Kamala Harris, especially from younger, female voters who are dedicated fans. Trump should also help his own cause by not publically commenting on pop singers and their political stances.
"I hate Taylor Swift!" This was the response Trump posted on social media after the singer/songwriter publically announced she'd be voting for Harris in November. Was this a mistake that could be viewed as a weakness to some voters who have backed Trump since the get-go?
What's also extremely un-Trump-like is entertaining the idea of losing the election, which he recently also did. Trump stated last week that he would not run in 2028 if he loses this year's election. Obviously, age is catching up to Trump and might be the reason he would bow out in 2028, but even acknowledging that defeat is a possibility is a stunning revelation in itself.
