The United States holiday that celebrates family, food, and putting differences aside is next week. One Twin Falls church has planned a free Thanksgiving feast for anyone in the city that could use some company and a warm meal.

Thanksgiving is a week from Thursday (November 24). It's a time to gather with family and friends to break bread and count our many blessings. There are some events planned throughout the Magic Valley to help community members that are less fortunate and could benefit from a meal and a warm setting.

The Potters House led by Pastor Angel Esquivel is preparing a Thanksgiving meal on November 24 for anyone in the community that wishes to attend. The church, at 136 2nd Avenue North, will host the free meal and gathering. The church also hosts free movies and games from time to time.

Once again, I'll be cooking a full Thanksgiving meal for my family. We are also grateful to be joined by others we didn't have at our dinner table for the holiday last year. For anyone that might be hosting a meal for the first time next week, there are tips on how to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal all over the Internet.

We hope you have a great Thanksgiving holiday. Don't forget to donate to this year's 60 Hours to Fight Hunger food drive hosted by the South Central Community Action Partnership. From November 17 to 19, food donations will be accepted at Smith's and Rob Green Buick / GMC.
