It's official, Idaho is now home to the best running back in college football. The accomplishments were made a reality Thursday night when he was awarded two trophies for his phenomenal 2024-25 efforts in the Boise State backfield.

Ashton Jeanty is one hell of a player. His statistics this season, which include 2,497 yards rushing and 29 touchdowns, have put him in the top five for best rushing seasons in collegiate history having recently broken Marcus Allen's single-season record.

In my opinion, he should win the Heisman Trophy over the other finalists, which include Travis Hunter (Colorado), Dillon Gabriel (Oregon), and Cam Ward (Florida).

The Boise State Broncos website recently shared the news that Jeanty has won both the Doak Walker and Maxwell Awards for being the best back in college sports this year. He's a massive reason the Broncos finished the regular season 11-1 and crushed UNLV to win the Mountain West Championship a week ago.

The Broncos now await their opponent for a bowl game on December 31. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN as the Broncos look to move on in the college playoff. Jeanty will be present as one of the four finalists for the Heisman Trophy Award which will be given out Saturday night. For information on how to watch the ceremony, click here.

Having lived in Idaho for years and been a part of airing Broncos football in Twin Falls, I'm extremely happy for the young man. In my opinion, he should win the Heisman Trophy over the other finalists, which include Travis Hunter (Colorado), Dillon Gabriel (Oregon), and Cam Ward (Florida).
